John August’s advice on How To Write A Scene

Creative Writing

2fphntO-323x550Over on my left is a list of the eleven steps John August utilizes when writing a scene.

Many of you know August from his collaborations with Tim Burton (Corpse Bride, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, Big Fish).  But it’s his independent works that always stick with me (The Nines and Go).  Whether big or small, his scripts move so well.  And his capacity to write great scenes are a driving force.

Last week, he created a fantastic two page guide which he made available on his website.  Yes, I’ve already saved it on each of my devices and posted it up anywhere I write.

His advice is that good.  Go ahead and check it out here.
