Describli is now in beta

The writer prompt and word gaming site has entered its second round of beta testing and is currently accepting new members. We wrote about Describli in March and the site has continued work to put together a unique and interesting experience for writers of all stripes. While not specifically geared towards the SFF crowd, I’m sure we can help move them in that direction. You can sign up for the beta yourself, or if you encounter any problems, we can send you an invite.

There are currently only two options when you sign in. You can either compose a piece of flash fiction or “Scrib” (max 5000 characters or about 1000 words) based on one of four images, or you can start a collaborative writing game where each player takes a turn writing a story. The beta only allows two people to play. Please note, however, that this is a beta. Some features will be limited or missing, and the site will likely change based in part on the feedback that you give.

Update 9/10: We’re getting reports that the sign up button on the Describli website in not working. Please send any invite requests to foilandphaser(at)gmail(dot)com.

Update 9/10: The invites do work, plus you get the added benefit of a free follower (ie Foil & Phaser). You can use the contact form below to submit an invitation request.  We will usually  get back to you within 24 hours.

This is the home of the Foil & Phaser writers workshop, a spin-off community website for fans of the Sword & Laser book club and podcast who want to develop their writing skills.

Nothing happens when I click for beta access. Can I get an invite?

  2. Hi Foil & Phaser and Ken,

First of all, thanks for writing about us!

Ken, We have been having an issue with the links on the main page, and you currently cannot get to the signup page from there. I’m really sorry that this has kept you from getting on the site. You can head to if you haven’t already gotten your invite from Foil & Phaser.

The article is correct that we will be listening closely to suggestions from the community, and have many new features planned for the coming months. We hope you enjoy the site, and I’ll see you there!

    Founder of Describli
