Site Update

I’ve been busy with other projects and haven’t had a lot of free time lately, so I thought it would be a good time to take a break from blogging and let the batteries recharge. Hopefully within the next week or two, things will settle down and we can get started on some new projects to take us through the summer. Some ideas include:

  1. Beta Readers Club for long-form works. This would be for those who are working towards publishing a novel (or an anthology of short works) and would like feedback on their project. It would also be open to readers willing to get involved in the process and give constructive criticism.
  2. A Charity Anthology. Our NaNoWriMo project Divide and Conquer Volume One has topped 300 downloads. If we could do similar numbers for another book we could raise over $1000 for a charity such as literacy or puppies. (Yes there will likely be a Volume Two, but November is still many moons away.)
  3. A Choose-Your-Own-Adventure style book where different contributors would write 200-300 word sections of an adventure book as a collaboration.

Plus the regular workshops, stories, tips and other fun that we’ve dished up for the past ten months. Don’t send in anything yet. More details will be coming in the next few weeks, but if you are interested in any of these, or you have ideas of your own, please leave a comment below or send an email.

That’s all for now. Hope to see you soon.

Taking a break really quick from homework to reply here. Depending on how things go for me over the next twenty or so days I’d be more than willing to do any of the above. I think the Beta Readers Club would be great, but I think you would need to include a non-disclosure agreement in the terms of service to join it. Also, maybe, we would have the same stipulations as the last workshop for people to post their work (they have to comment on someone else’s first).

The other thing I was thinking about was maybe adding a forum to the site or possibly even create a subreddit. This would allow people to ask for help with their short stories and such and keep in touch with everyone they met during the workshops. .
